Circa 1840 Folding Tavern Table, converting into a High-Back Settle/Bench.
Made from Figured Elmwood in the 1840's ,this table is a warm honey colour and the grain of the wood is full of character . As one would hope for, thid piece has the Patination one would hope for with Antique Country Furniture : Knocks, scuffs, bruises, all softened with age and blending to create the perfect Country -House Surface. The top is constructed to be removable for ease of relocating (within its original Tavern environment) by means of two (original looking ) forged Iron pins, one each end. And yet ,within the few seconds it takes to locate the pins , the table is ready for service. Simply fold the top back to use as seating !
